Blood pressure is on point

One of the easiest ways to determine if you are at risk for many diseases is to check your blood pressure.

I am proud to report my blood pressure was 120/82 today at dialysis check-in and I didn’t even take my medication before it. This is almost perfect blood pressure.

It’s likely a combination of my new diet (more fruits and veggies) and the effectiveness of dialysis in removing excess fluid from my body. When you body retains fluid, this can increase blood pressure. If you eat too much sodium, then your body will hold onto more fluid, which is why sodium is also a silent killer.

I went to Chick-fil-A a few weeks ago thinking a grilled chicken sandwich would be healthy. I checked the sodium content and it was almost 1,000 mg (40% DV). Needless to say I did not move forward with the purchase. Instead, I made a low sodium chicken sandwich at home. These little decisions appear to be working. I just wish I started sooner.
