Now my knee has gout (6/18/22)

Just to add to the health issues, I had to go back to the ER today. My right knee has been swollen AF. Turns out it’s a brand new gout attack. First time in my knee. Truly debilitating. The doctor said despite my low uric acid levels, gout is now a problem that I’ll face from time to time, regardless…

Biopsy results (6/15/22)

Update : The preliminary biopsy results came back and there is NO EVIDENCE of an autoimmune disease. This is great news for my future transplant. This means less chance of rejection and complications. The doctor now thinks it’s from years of uncontrolled hypertension. Ironically I was taking my blood pressure meds religiously, but along the way they either stopped working,…

My longest hospital stay (6/14/22)

I’ve never been in a hospital for this long. I’ve officially hit more than 1 week only leaving my room for surgeries, dialysis and medical procedures. There’s a 50% chance when I leave the room I will be rendered unconscious. And in the moments that I am alert, I am either surrounded by senior citizens battling end-of-life diseases or young…

Goodbye groin catheter (6/10/22)

Update : Catheter in my groin has been removed. The only remaining procedure is a possible biopsy to determine root cause of my chronic kidney failure. The nephrologist will confirm tomorrow if I’m a candidate for one as he is unsure if I have enough healthy kidney left for it to determine anything. However, this information would be useful to…

I’m getting a biopsy (6/9/22)

Update: I’m scheduled for my 3rd dialysis treatment tomorrow and they’ll be removing the catheter in my groin. The doctors are going to determine if my kidneys are healthy enough for a biopsy so they can try and determine what caused my kidneys to shut down. Was it from a decade+ of high blood pressure, an autoimmune disease? It’s somewhat…

Knocked out again (6/9/22)

Just got out of surgery. They knocked me out again with #propofol and installed a #permcath for #dialysis. The catheter is in a major vein and almost goes all the way to my heart. This will give easier access to the dialysis machine which I’ll be using 3x a week for 4 hours a session. Good times! #BeFreeMySheeple#kidneyfailure#renalfailure#bloodtransfusion#disabled

Foot fetish (6/8/22)

Sorry for the foot fetish porn, but my left foot looks normal for the first time since March and this is cause for small celebration . Perhaps my body is healing. Getting those red blood cells up, flushing out the uric acid and creatinine and reducing excess fluid via dialysis.

Red blood cells are improving (6/8/22)

Got my RBCs to their highest level yet (8+) after the 4th transfusion. Let’s see if this RBC-producing drug keeps the number there. That would be a very good sign. The prevalent theory now is since they can’t find any bleeding, my body may not be producing enough RBCs to compensate. Healthy men are 14-17 gm/dL (women 12-15 gm/dL). I…
